Golf in Ayrshire is a paradise with close to 50 courses to choose from with everything from the classic Links to majestic inland terrain with the introduction of new courses designed by some of the world's top Golf heroes offering the golfer all styles you could dream of. Dundonald Links near Irvine in Ayrshire has also recently become the location of choice for the Scottish open with Prestwick's famous course, location of the first ever Golf Open Championship and Turnberry on the Girvan coast which has hosted several open championships including the famous 106th Open now known as the “Duel in the Sun” with Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus fighting it out. Later the 18th hole at Turnberry was named in their honour.

Horse lovers can enjoy the facilities at Ayr Racecourse which is in fact Scotland's only Grade One track and home to the “Jewels in the crown” of Scottish Racing – the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival in April and the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival in September. In 2018 the Ayr Racecourse boasts a record 37 fixtures with many of them having live entertainment. A visit to the Racecourse will offer something for everybody to savour. Further to the Racecourse there are many other Equestrian events on in Ayrshire with many riding lessons and treks to choose from.

Tennis fans can enjoy Prestwick Tennis and Fitness centre which offers all year round tennis and fitness facilities. The Centre has a multi sports centre which is Tennis (LTA Accredited), Badminton & Table Tennis are available and cater to all levels with all the exercise and Fitness Equipment you could ask for. Tennis Ayrshire has 10 affiliated clubs in its area. Visitors are welcome at most of the clubs by prior arrangement.

Sports facilities in Ayrshire you are available via council run operations which are open to visitors in South, East & North Ayrshire. The facilities are of a high standard with all round easy access for all.

For the outdoor lover and explorer Ayrshire & Arran is a heavenly play ground offering an array of parks with open spaces, recently created paths along its rivers for hikers, fishing, canoeing and many outdoor sporting activities. The sea of course offers many opportunities with local sailing clubs available in Ayrshire as well as the facilities at Troon Marina & Largs Marina which are world class, catering for national and international events involving races where the crowds can enjoy the atmosphere and catering as well as the vista of many types of boats and race styles.
