About Us

The Kirkton Inn was built in 1879 following on from the initial founders and settlers coming to the village in 1875.

The Inn is situated in the heart of Burns country in the picturesque village of Dalrymple, only two miles south of Alloway in Ayr, Ayrshire. Since its conception The Kirkton Inn gained a reputation as a well-respected restaurant and over time was the focal point of local residents and visitors alike.

In 2018 The Kirkton Inn has benefited from a substantial investment in order to restore the interior and exterior to its' former glory and that is thanks to the new owners Heather & John Keenan, business owners and entrepreneurs based locally in Ayr.

The extensive renovation has benefitted from a wealth of experience as its owners have over three decades of experience in Manufacturing from their successful Ayr business - It's a marriage made in heaven.

About the owners; Heather Keenan B.Sc B.Acc (Hons) has been the internal accountant for Eurotrade for almost thirty years and will be the accountant for the Kirkton Inn.

John Keenan has a wealth of experience in the hotel industry, having grown up with his grandparents owning St. Ninian's Hotel in Prestwick and his parents owning The Minishant Inn only a few miles from Dalrymple until their retirement. Since 1990 he set up his own business, EUROTRADE windows / doors / kitchens.

The Inn will continue to be the focal point of the village just as it was designed to be centuries ago, with all consideration having been maintained to save the original features of the fabric of the building whilst embracing a contemporary decor combined with a traditional Scottish twist. It really is a real gem which exudes character and charm which is so sought after and cherished in Scotland by its natives and tourists alike.

In the beautiful re-designed bar area, customers can now enjoy the welcoming log burner which exudes a warm ambience. The bar has an extensive wine list and wide selection of beers and spirits to suit all tastes.

Within the nooks and crannies of the interior of the building is a 'wee room' that offer privacy and a relaxed homely atmosphere and as well as this are the unique nooks and crannies which will allow the purveyors of this fine establishment to relish a truly memorable visit.

The wide range of Scottish gins will be served in a style which will encourage customers to trial exciting and new combinations helping you to choose your gin with a choice of premium tonics and garnish.

At the rear of The Kirkton Inn is an outside area with a well planned out beer garden together with relaxation zones. The access from the rear Car Park has been developed to cater for all ages and accessibility has been a priority to make it easy to enter and exit from the Inn. The garden in the Car Park has been created by and is maintained by the owners' father.

Critical to the future success of any business is selecting a talented team and with this process now painstakingly completed, The Kirkton Inn has employed chefs whom are passionate about food and use high quality, locally sourced produce to create delicious dishes, specialising in Scottish fayre and traditional hearty food.

The staff at The Kirkton Inn are trained to offer an excellent level of service to ensure your visit is relaxed and enjoyable with the aim of leaving you wholly satisfied wanting to visit again and recommending the Inn to friends and family. After all, a personal recommendation is the best form of a compliment that you can have and we want to maintain that simple idea which the future growth of our business depends on.

Tourists will find Dalrymple is only two miles from the historical Ayrshire village of Alloway which was the birthplace of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns. In the heart of Alloway are the picturesque River Doon, Burns' Cottage, Alloway Auld Kirk and the beautiful Brig o' Doon itself which was the climax to Burns' most famous poem "Tam o' Shanter".
